Representation of Gender - Wire In The Blood Analysis.

Camera shots/movement.// The scene opens with a 'two shot' which shows the two characters from the clip leaving a house, the camera is also using an 'over the shoulder shot' because it is from the perspective of someone who is at the scene, the characters are followed by a 'tracking shot' as they walk out of the house. A 'two shot' is then used again, the female character displays her authority over the male through her assertive attitude towards him, she then goes on to give orders to others which shows her authority.  This clip completely opposes the idea of 'the male gaze' which suggests that men objectify women and have much more power/authority, this is evident through the female character 'Alex.'

Editing.// The clip features a small amount of editing, however it is used to change the scene from one to another when necessary.

Sound.// Sound is used within the scene where the male character is going through the files of the case, music is played in the background when the character is asking questions aloud to the case itself, the music is used to add a mysterious tone to the scene because the character is trying to solve the case. Sound is then used in the scene where the men are 'squatting' in the house because they have nowhere to live, eerie music is played in the background when the bald man shows his authority over everyone in the room by being the only one talking and silencing the rest of the characters in the room, the music helps represent the male character.

Mise en Scene.// Alex is portrayed to be a dominant character through the way she acts towards other characters, she seems to be 'married' to her job which puts a restriction on the time she can spend with her child. The male character who is significant in the first part of the clip seems to be more laid-back, however he also seems very smart because he is given the files of the case and works with them to try and find out the truth. The bald man who is significant in the scene with the 'squatters' seems to be quite powerful but would be classed as a bad character and is involved in crime, he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty which is evident when he grabs the mans head and hits it on the wall.
