Video Clip Analysis.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Camera shots/movement.// The video opens with a 'crab shot' which follows Jordan Belfort, to highlight that he is the character to be looking at, as he begins his speech to the 'strattonites' The camera then changes to an 'over the shoulder shot' from one of the 'strattonites' who is listening intently to every word Belfort says. Furthermore the camera utilises a 'two shot' which shows the relationship between Belfort and the 'strattonites' because they cling on to every word he says to them which shows he is the dominant character. The scene continues with a close up shot of Belfort's face as he continues his speech to the 'strattonites,' this is used to turn attention to the character and in this case what he's about to say.

Editing.// The video features use of editing when Belfort throws his watch out to the 'strattonites' as it is put into slow motion using a high camera angle which looks down on them as they all try and clutch the watch as it flies through the air.

Sound.// The video opens with almost silence from everyone/everything in the room except from Jordan Belfort's voice which creates the atmosphere. The atmosphere created by Belfort's speech triggers a response from the 'strattonites' causing them to get rowdy and cheer at what Belfort says, the response from the 'strattonites' shows the dominance that Belfort has over them and how much they respect him.

Mise en scene.// Belfort dresses in a '$2000 suit' & wears a '$40,000 gold watch' which shows his wealth, he then shows he is 'filthy' rich when he throws his watch into the crowd of 'strattonites' who all eagerly try and grab it as it goes past their fingertips. The setting of the video is in the Stratton Oakmont office which gives the idea of it being a formal workplace, however it is then proven to be the complete opposite of that and is described as a 'wolf pit' by Belfort later on in the film. The main prop used in this scene is the microphone which suggests the sheer size of the office because Belfort has to use a microphone and speakers so the 'strattonites' can hear him, this also suggests how successful Stratton Oakmont are as they have a huge office with hundreds of employee's.

The Hobbit

Camera shots/movement.// The video opens with an 'over the shoulder shot' from behind Smaug who is standing up to the huge golden statue of Thrane. The statue stands taller than Smaug and a 'low angle shot' is used from behind Smaug looking up to the statue of Thrane suggesting he is more powerful. The camera then turns to Bilbo using a 'close up shot' on his face to show him anxiously watching what is about to happen. Further on in the video, Smaug breaks out of Erebor and flies into the air with gold coming off of his body. During this a 'low angle shot' is used from beneath Smaug to show his power and ruthlessness after the Dwarves attempt to kill him fails. The video ends with an 'extreme close up shot' on Smaug's face as he says 'I am fire, I am death' to ensure the audience focus on what Smaug says.

8 Mile

Camera shots/movement.// The video begins with a 'two shot' which features B-Rabbit & Papa Doc staring each other out where neither of them break the eye contact, this is used to show they are both trying to mentally gain the upper hand over the other. An 'over the shoulder shot' is then used when Future asks Papa Doc whether he chooses heads or tails, this shot is used to focus on the conversation between Future & Papa Doc. The video then continues with an 'over the shoulder shot' from behind Future as he talks to the crowd and a 'high angle shot' is used to look down on the crowd to show that the crowd are looking up to Future. The 'point of view shot' is used from the DJ who is behind all of the action which shows what he can see, he is watching Future, Papa Doc and B-Rabbit with the crowd cheering behind/beneath them. From this B-Rabbit begins his rap and a 'long shot' is used to set the scene and show how he fits in with the scene because you can see the crowd reacting to him.

Representation of Me.

Groups

Skater.// I put myself into this group because of the clothes I wear, the brands that come under the 'skater' title are brands that I buy. I own a skateboard and it would come under one of my hobbies, however I believe I fall into this category because I wear brands such as; Stussy, Palace, NikeSB, Adidas Skateboarding & HUF.

Sports Junkies.// I put myself into this group because I am passionate about sport and have a competitive attitude towards it. However I wouldn't say i'm a 'junky' when it comes to sport, I play football at club level & I play to win.

New Casual.// I put myself into this group because of; music that comes under this category, some clothes that I wear but mainly going to the football on a Saturday to watch Leicester City play.

Figures

Pharrell Williams.// He plays a part in  the brand 'Billionaire Boys Club' which is one of the brands I like to wear. Pharrell wears Billionaire Boys Club clothing himself and has a similar style to me, wearing his shirts and jumpers baggy looks better in my opinion.

Wiz Khalifa.// He is pictured wearing a long top and black skinny jeans which is a style that I think looks good and I do choose to wear my clothes like this, black skinny jeans tend to look good with most clothes in my opinion.

Stefan Janoski.// Stefan Janoski released his own brand of shoes called 'Nike Jansokis.' I think I am similar to Stefan purely for his own brand of shoes that he has released, I wear these shoes and own more than one pair in different colors.

I wear the clothes that these celebrities wear because I think the clothes are good quality and also look very good when worn in the style that the celebrities represent. I wear the clothes represented by the celebrities in the fashion that they wear them as well because I think they look stylish. I like to buy branded clothes such as; Palace, Stussy, HUF, Billionaire Boys Club, Lyle & Scott, Ralph Lauren, NikeSB, Adidas etc. to create my own image of me.

Media 5x5

5 Albums:
//The Marshall Mathers LP.// One of Eminem's early albums which was released a year after his career took off in 1999. I personally enjoy this album because it features songs about Marshall's life which highlight his problems and how he deals with them.
//Curtain Call.// Released in 2005, an album that features all of Marshall's biggest hits. I enjoy listening to this album because it contains his best music from previous years so each track is faultless.
·   //Recovery.// A follow on album from 'Relapse.' Relapse was released after Marshall's 4 year absence bringing him back onto the scene, however Eminem raps 'let's be honest, that Relapse CD was ehh' suggesting he was unsure about his album. Eminem then later said he wasn't happy with Relapse during an interview with Jonathan Ross, which called for the release of 'Recovery.' I enjoy listening to Recovery because every song is quality but they differentiate massively.
//48:13.// An album released by the biggest band to come from Leicester, this album from Kasabian was released after the announcement of their homecoming gig 'Summer Solstice' which was held in Leicester on 21st June 2014. This album encouraged me to get a ticket for Summer Solstice and it didn't disappoint, hearing some of the 48:13 songs live alongside a quality atmosphere made it one of the best days of my life.
//2001.// An album released by DR.DRE, this album features many of DRE's more well known songs such as; Still D.R.E, The Next Episode & Forgot About Dre. I enjoy this album because it was released over a decade ago but the songs never get old.

5 Films:

The film has an exquisite story line and is based on a true story, however the story also proves that money can't buy you happiness.
·  //Shawshank Redemption.// A film that portrays the story of Andy Dufresne who is locked away in Shawshank prison for the murder of his wife and her lover despite his claims of innocence. The film highlights a mans desperation for freedom coinciding with his divine amount of patience, Dufresne defies all odds when he escapes Shawshank prison because 'nobody escapes Shawshank.'
·  // 8 Mile.// One of my favorite films because it portrays the early life of Eminem and how he came from nothing to become the man he is today, 8 mile has an inspirational story line and was also released a couple of weeks after arguably Eminem's most famous song 'Lose Yourself.'
·  //The Hobbit.// I enjoyed The Hobbit because it is set before The Lord of the Rings trilogy and will also become a trilogy upon the release of the third Hobbit film. The Hobbit is set in a fantasy world during medieval times following the journey of Bilbo Baggins who joins a group of travelling Dwarves who aim to take back their homeland.
·  //Harry Potter & the Philosophers Stone.// The beginning of arguably the biggest film series of all time. Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone is the first of eight films which were released throughout my childhood, all of the films are equally as good and build up to one of the best finales from a series of films.
